Common questions

How do I restore my purchase?

Your subscription belongs to your Apple Account, not to a Paperclock account, and covers iPhone and Mac. Sign in with the same Apple Account on the device and open Paperclock. If the app doesn't recognise your subscription, tap “Restore Purchases”: on iPhone under More › Subscription, on Mac under Settings › Subscription & Data.

How do I cancel my subscription?

The subscription runs through Apple, so you cancel it in your Apple Account settings: on iPhone under Settings › your name › Subscriptions, on Mac in the App Store under your name › Account Settings › Subscriptions. “Manage subscription” in Paperclock takes you straight there (iPhone: More › Subscription, Mac: Settings › Subscription & Data).

The subscription then runs until the end of the period you paid for. After that, your time entries and invoices stay readable and exportable.

Where is my data stored?

On your devices and, if you use iCloud sync, in your own iCloud. Paperclock doesn't need a user account, and we have no access to your data. That also means we can't restore it for you: iCloud sync is not an archive, so back up your invoices once a year with the archive export.

Notion only receives data if you connect it yourself.

How do I export my data?

Under Export & backup (iPhone: More, Mac: Settings › Subscription & Data) you export a year as a ZIP: all invoice PDFs with the embedded e-invoice, the XRechnung files and a CSV journal of invoices and time entries.

On the Mac you export reports under Reports as CSV or PDF. A service report per client and period is available on iPhone and Mac as PDF or CSV. Exporting works without an active subscription, too.

Notion won't connect, or time entries don't arrive?

Open the Notion connection: on Mac under Integrations in the sidebar, on iPhone under More › Integrations. If the connection has expired, tap “Reconnect”. If a database is missing, share it with Paperclock via “Share in Notion”.

If you use iPhone and Mac, only one of the two devices writes time entries to Notion; the other shows what is still waiting. Your time entries in Paperclock itself are not lost.
